Born in Yorkshire, England, Nick Quick made his career in manufacturing industry before moving into academia, where he passed his skills in manufacturing and management on to the next generation of engineers. He retired from full-time lecturing in 2000 when he moved to Langside Farm and began the long process of converting and upgrading the farmhouse into the superior bed & breakfast establishment that you see today. Elise, on the other hand, is a Scot. After graduating from the Glasgow School of Art and raising a family, her career path led her into teaching. She now works part-time as a supply teacher in art and design, which leaves her time to indulge in her other passions of cooking, gardening and interior design which she does to great effect and which are very much appreciated by the guests at Langside. The last resident member of the family is Cocoa, the Standard poodle. His main responsibility is to greet the guests on arrival, and he loves his back being rubbed. He is also an expert at teaching little children not to be frightened of big dogs. |
